We are thrilled to announce the launch of “Museum Studies Dissertation Reviews,” which will bring you friendly, non-critical overviews of recently defended, unpublished dissertations on various topics in museum studies. Like all the other series on this website, “Museum Studies” will feature reviews and guides for archives, libraries and collections around the world. If you are interested in reviewing for the new series, having your dissertation reviewed, contributing a “Fresh from the Archives” or “Talking Shop” article, or helping out in some other way, please contact amy.barnes@dissertationreviews.org.
Introducing Our New Field Editor
Amy Barnes is Programme Manager in the School of Museum Studies at the University of Leicester. She has a background in Asian Art History and her AHRC-funded doctoral research at the University of Leicester (2005-2009) explored the collection, interpretation and display of Chinese Cultural Revolution-era visual culture in British museums. She is working on her first monograph, Museum Representations of Maoist China, to be published by Ashgate in 2014, and is developing a postdoctoral project in a related area. In recent years she has co-edited three edited volumes published by Routledge: National Museums: New Studies from Around the World (2010), The Thing about Museums (2011), and Narrating Objects: Collecting Stories (2012). She has worked as a freelance researcher and curator, and between 2000 and 2001 was Curatorial Assistant at the Percival David Foundation of Chinese Art (SOAS, University of London). She is also China Editor of the online journal Modern Art Asia.
